About Us

Californians for Smart Pesticide Policy (CSPP) has developed this website to enhance understanding about how and why farmers use and rely on fumigants to control soil pests and diseases.  Soil management on farms is a complex undertaking and requires balancing the control of harmful pests and diseases while protecting beneficial insects and the surrounding environment and eco-system.

Proper soil management, which includes pest and disease control, is key to sustaining farmland for the next generation of farmers.

California benefits from safe and successful pest control where human health is protected and the productivity and sustainability of California’s farms and the quality of our shared environment is safeguarded. Robustly regulated use of pesticides, both organic and conventional, is an essential component of pest control.

CSPP is a coalition made up of allied agricultural associations and pesticide registrants focused on education about the benefits of modern agricultural tools. Our mission is to inform pesticide policies and actions in California by using the best available science and data while adhering to state regulations and statutes.
